Convivio is a creative space in Oaxaca, Mexico. We are a restaurant, cocktail bar, coworking space, live music venue and gallery. Convivio’s gallery has hosted artists from Oaxaca, all over Mexico and international artists from the US, UK, Australia, France, Canada, Holland and our live music venue has brought bands from the US, Japan, France, Italy, UK, Argentina to name but a few.
Convivio has been affected particularly hard during the pandemic as until now our primary income was from live music and coworking. We had planned to open our new restaurant on the ground floor of the venue during Easter week but we had to cease renovations on this space to be able to allocate funds to pay rent while we were closed.
We were able to adapt somewhat during these months with a temporary menu for delivery in a basic kitchen but this only allowed us to pay a portion of our rent. Our landlord has been very understanding and this is the sole reason we have been able to remain open as a business.
We are launching a series of both online cooking classes and advance purchases of classes here in Oaxaca to raise enough funds to finish our space and re-employ our staff with the aim of opening to the public early September. The classes are available in multiple timezones and we are also offering custom classes which can be set on dates in the future. Class vouchers can also be purchased in advance for your future trip to Oaxaca which will take place in Convivio’s kitchen which will include trips to the local market.
We are also launching a range of merchandise very soon which includes t-shirts, tote bags, limited edition screen printed posters by our creative director Horse and we will also be releasing music from Convivio Records which features local and international artists recorded in Convivio.
